Introduction Maryland Public Television, commonly known as MPT, is a public television network that broadcasts throughout the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is Maryland's only statewide broadcaster. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and produces both locally and nationally distributed TV programs and digital content.

Main Purpose of Job The Facilities and Maintenance Technician maintains the safe and efficient operation of MPT's HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, performs routine preventative maintenance, and keeps the facility's physical appearance and grounds. The Maintenance Mechanic assists with moving furniture, general and small equipment repairs, and other general maintenance duties, maintains inventory, and may supervise outside contractors on special projects. This position requires flexibility for nights, weekends, holidays, outdoor work in unfavorable weather, basic computer skills, a valid MD driver's license, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Position Duties

Maintain the facilities, plumbing, steam pipes and fittings, and make minor repairs to fixtures.

Check and maintain all sewer lines; clean traps and change filters.

Assist the facilities staff on special projects such as painting, electrical repairs, set‑ups for meetings, courier services, and other duties as assigned.

Maintain and monitor HVAC system.

Maintain inventory of plumbing supplies and necessary plumbing equipment.

Make minor repairs to electrical equipment and building structures.

Assist with snow/ice removal and other emergencies.

Complete work orders in a timely fashion.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience:

Two (2) years of experience in maintenance trades, including at least two (2) years in plumbing, refrigeration, or air‑conditioning.

For education obtained outside the U.S., provide a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service before hire.

Licenses, Registrations and Certifications Employees may be assigned duties requiring the operation of a motor vehicle and must possess a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license.

Special Requirements

Willingness to work a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

Experience with outdoor work in unfavorable weather conditions.

Valid MD driver's license.

Ability to lift 50 pounds.
