Summary
The Shipping, Receiving & Inventory Clerk supports warehouse operations by processing inbound and outbound shipments and maintaining accurate inventory records. This role is hands‑on and detail‑oriented, with responsibility for ensuring materials are properly received, tracked, stored, and shipped.
Key Responsibilities Shipping
Process and document all outgoing shipments
Prepare shipping paperwork, labels, and carrier documentation
Pick, pack, and stage orders for shipment
Verify order accuracy prior to shipment
Calculate and record freight, postage, weight, and shipping costs
Coordinate shipment information with Accounting, Sales, and Operations
Move and load shipments onto carriers or shipping docks, including forklift operation when required
Receiving
Receive and inspect incoming shipments against purchase orders and bills of lading
Document shipment quantities, condition, and discrepancies
Assist with resolution of damaged, missing, or incorrect shipments
Route received materials to appropriate warehouse locations or departments
Support receiving dock activity, including scheduling inbound deliveries
Inventory Control
Maintain accurate inventory records for incoming and outgoing materials
Record inventory transactions related to shipments, receipts, and internal transfers
Monitor inventory levels and report low‑stock conditions
Assist with cycle counts and periodic physical inventories
Help maintain organized, labeled, and accurate stockroom and warehouse locations
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
Ability to lift and carry moderate‑weight items
Standard schedule is Monday through Friday
Occasional evening or weekend hours during peak shipping periods
Additional Information
Employees may be cross‑trained and assigned additional duties as needed
Job responsibilities may change based on operational needs
Required Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
1‑3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or inventory roles
Basic knowledge of shipping procedures, packing methods, and carrier documentation
Ability to accurately receive, pick, pack, and ship materials
Experience maintaining inventory records and tracking stock movement
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
Basic computer skills, including use of inventory systems, spreadsheets, and email
Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, packing slips, and bills of lading
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends during peak shipping periods
