Survey Instrument Operator

Overview Under the supervision of a Licensed Surveyor or Crew Chief, the Instrument Operator will clean, calibrate, and operate all survey equipment. The Operator will support office and field staff by managing equipment and supplies for the crew truck, reporting supply levels to the Chief of Parties/Crew Manager. The role requires enthusiasm for teamwork, love of the outdoors, and eagerness to grow the career.
Activities + Responsibilities
Assist a surveying or construction crew in assessing the topography and geography of a building site or parcel of land.
Calibrate and operate a variety of specialized surveying equipment, such as robotic total stations, GPS, and other survey tools.
Collect data and report back to builders, contractors, or survey leaders.
Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor with all staff and clients.
Required Skills / Abilities
Ability to regularly work outside in all weather conditions including extreme heat and cold, wet, and muddy conditions, and high/precarious places.
Ability to travel frequently and work overtime including weekends, as needed.
Ability to lift equipment or objects weighing 50 to 75 pounds.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Working knowledge of computers.
Valid Driver’s License.
