is seeking a part-time, non-exempt

Driver and Warehouse Worker . This is a 28 hour a week position, Monday to Friday, 6 am to 12:00 pm. This position is located in Lake City, FL and supports the operations of the Florida Gateway Food Bank, which provides over 2 million pounds of food to 61 partner agencies. The salary range is $16 to $17 an hour. This is a temporary position that will end April 10, 2026.

Job Summary The Food Bank Driver and Warehouse Worker supports the operations of the Food Bank through driving, warehouse support, inventory management, cleaning and order processing. This position is responsible for driving company vehicles, including van to 24-foot refrigerated truck, to make food deliveries to partner agencies, pickup food donations from donors, and follows all safety rules and regulations. Monitors the physical and mechanical condition of vehicles to help maintain a safe and efficient truck fleet.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Safely drive company van to 24-foot refrigerated truck to pick up and transport food to and from the food bank to agencies and companies.

Responsible for safely loading and unloading trucks using forklift and pallet jack.

Count and separate food donations or purchased products by product type while unloading the truck.

Drive carefully and observe/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.

Correctly log all mileage on standard forms; ensure the accuracy and completeness of the same.

Arrive at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.

Receive and unload trucks as well as prepare loads for pickup and/or delivery to member agencies.

Follow Catholic Charities, USDA & Feeding America guidelines for storage, distribution, cleaning, etc.

Responsible for loading product allocations to our food pantry partners.

Receive, process, and post agency orders and applicable fees to inventory system.

Monitor pickups of donations to ensure pickups are timely.

Responsible for scheduling and preparing food orders for pickup by food pantry partners and adhere to FIFO policy.

Inspect product being delivered, donated, and/or purchased for quality. Weigh and document product. Promptly stores frozen, refrigerated and shelf items while adhering to FIFO.

Set up and keep stocked shopping areas as well as rotate stock and boxed donations.

Inform food bank manager of changes in requirements for pickups established by donor at their location.

Organizes distribution of food products to food pantry partners.

Assist in warehouse tasks such as selecting orders, receiving, shipping, replenishment, inventory cycle counting, and cleaning as directed.

Clean and maintain warehouse, coolers, equipment, and facilities ensuring that work areas are clean, secure, and well-maintained by following established cleaning protocols.

Ensure facility remains sanitized for the safety of all staff, volunteers, clients and visitors; to facilitate the delivery of food assistance to community partners; to assist with the collection of donated goods; and to support food distribution/client service.

Provide customer service support to agencies regarding food pick-ups and ordering.

Follow all safety regulations and company policies.

Responsible for safe operation of trucks, forklifts, and equipment.

Complete accurate reports for tracking.

Keep equipment and truck clean and free of debris both interior and exterior (no smoking in vehicles or on-site).

Perform vehicle pre-trip inspections every morning for vehicle maintenance and safety. Complete required logs/reports pertaining to vehicles and route/delivery information.

Perform post-trip inspections for vehicle maintenance and safety. Complete required logs/reports pertaining to vehicles.

Must be able to drive a box truck ranging from 12 to 24 foot long, legally, respectively, and carefully.

Provide excellent customer service to agencies, clients, and internal customers.

Develop positive, professional relationships with donors and vendors.

Report all incidents or accidents to your supervisor regardless how insignificant they may be.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, a van to-24-foot truck, forklift, and pallet jack.

Ability to read a map, follow GPS or instructions while navigating to various locations within the North Florida area.

Ability to gauge time needed to arrive at destination.

Required/Preferred Education And Experience

Must be 21 years or older to drive for the Agency.

High School diploma or GED required.

1 year experience driving non CDL commercial trucks.

1 year experience operating a forklift.

Basic material handling and warehouse/inventory practices knowledge required.

Experience in warehouse operations preferred.

Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and various warehouse equipment.

Other Requirements

Clear a Level II background screening.

Clear a reference check (professional and personal)

Clear a local background check from the county in which you reside.

Clear a Motor Vehicles Records check.

Provide proof of and maintain a minimum personal auto insurance according to agency standards.

Provide a copy of all certifications prior to your first day of employment.

Clear an E-Verify check.

Valid Florida state driver’s license.

Work Environment This job requires both inside and outside work. Temperature and Non-Temperature Controlled Environments. Working in freezer, cooler, and dry warehouse with appropriate clothing to protect from adverse conditions. While inside, the environment consists of an open warehouse, cooler and freezer with varying temperatures. While working outdoors it can be very cold/hot, wet, and dry. Some areas may be lightly lit/dark. Able to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.

Physical Demands This position requires driving a van to-24-foot truck in traffic and throughout the community. The employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently up to 75 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to work in varying weather conditions and temperatures. Some areas may be lightly lit/dark.
