Job Description Summary
The Pharmacy Supervisor is a licensed professional responsible for providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services to Option Care patients in accordance with Option Care policies, current pharmacy practice standards, and regulatory entities. The supervisor coordinates patient services with nursing, delivery, and reimbursement departments, and oversees the purchasing, control, and security of drug products and medical supplies.
Job Responsibilities
Delivers and manages appropriate patient care, determining suitability of patients for home care.
Directs daily activities of the pharmacy department to prioritize pharmaceutical care delivery.
Oversees state and federal regulatory requirements, serves as pharmacist in charge per state regulation, and ensures licensure requirements are current and valid.
Ensures appropriate staff training for computer and admixture device use, safeguarding confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.
Supports sales professionals and general manager by providing accurate service scope, meeting with managed care organizations, and facilitating education.
Manages purchase, inventory, and security of medications, pumps, and supplies per policies and formulary guidelines.
Designs, recommends, monitors, and evaluates patient‑specific pharmacy care plans; modifies plans based on monitoring data and patient information.
Ensures medications are prepared and dispensed using appropriate techniques and policies; equipment is accurately calibrated.
Provides in‑service education to physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians, and other practitioners on home care pharmacy issues.
Manages and supports pharmacy staff, prioritizing workload and organizing workflow based on available resources.
Co‑ordinates and participates in on‑call responsibilities of the pharmacy department.
Supervisory Responsibilities YES – includes hiring, approving promotions and pay increases, scheduling, performance reviews, discipline, etc.
Basic Education and Experience Requirements
Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
Current, active pharmacy license from the State Board of Pharmacy.
At least 3–5 years experience in a clean room or infusion pharmacy setting, or 2 years experience plus one of the following: knowledge of non‑sterile compounding & MTM; completion of an ASHP accredited residency; or equivalent experience.
Basic Qualifications & Interests
Reliable transportation for home visits, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance if vehicle used.
Strong time‑management skills and ability to prioritize and track detailed tasks.
Customer‑service experience meeting quality standards and evaluating satisfaction.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Travel Requirements
Willing to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes.
Preferred Qualifications & Interests
Post‑graduate program in clinical pharmacy service.
Certification in Nutrition Support Pharmacy or related clinical area.
Experience managing inventory and logistics.
Active membership in a state or national professional organization.
Compounding sterile products and managing complex infusion patients.
Experience overseeing purchasing and inventory of pharmaceutical substances and supplies.

Salary range: $109,266.31 – $182,095.50.
