Compass Intervention Center is seeking a dynamic and talented Certified Recreational Therapist for our Acute Hospital. We provide superior behavioral healthcare services recommended by patients, physicians and clients. Visit our website at www.compassinterventioncenter.com.
The Certified Recreational Therapist is responsible for assessing clients’ leisure and recreational activities, providing age‑appropriate therapy groups and establishing behavioral treatment goals in line with Compass Intervention Center’s philosophy and objectives. The Therapist creates a safe environment, provides direct supervision, empowers clients and teaches new coping tools.
Key Responsibilities include: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to groups providing care to varied populations, including children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, chemical dependency or dually diagnosed clients in a residential treatment facility setting.
Qualifications Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Leisure Management, Recreational Therapy or other related field.
Certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) required.
One year experience working with a mental health population; preference for activity therapy experience.
Preference for knowledge of group leadership skills, age‑specific growth and development, crisis and behavior management.
