Position Title:
Quality Improvement Abstractor
Work Location: Remote - TX
Assignment Duration: Four months
Work Schedule: 7 am to 4 pm, or 8 am to 5 pm CST; overtime with prior approval
Work Arrangement: Remote (Texas only)
Position Summary: Lead data collection and abstraction for company quality measures, including HEDIS, CMS, CHIPRA and/or any other custom measurements.
Background & Context: This position supports the Clinical Quality Team during the MY2025 HEDIS Project in 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess vendor‑delegated abstraction activities and compare results to HEDIS standards and/or custom or other measure set standards
Review medical records and abstract data for HEDIS and other measure sets in compliance with standards
Track and report on issues and outcomes related to abstractions and over‑reads
Communicate outcomes of abstraction and over‑sight activities with health plans and vendors when required
Perform other quality initiatives as necessary
Education/Certification: Required: Texas LVN/RN license.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Licensure: Required: Texas LVN/RN license.
Preferred: Texas LVN/RN license.
Years of Experience Required: Previous HEDIS abstraction/overread experience.
Disqualifiers: Absence of an active nursing license.
Additional Qualities to Look For:
Independent worker, critical thinking skills, computer application proficiency.
Previous experience with HEDIS, NCQA, Quality Initiatives/Standards.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Applications including Excel.
Top 3 Must‑Have Hard Skills (Stack‑Ranked by Importance):
Computer application proficiency – Microsoft Applications, Teams, Outlook, etc.
Ability to maintain productivity and accuracy goals.
Previous experience with HEDIS abstraction and over‑reading.
