Children’s Ministry Pastor
Church Overview Paradigm Community is a Christ-centered Christian church located in San Clemente, California. Position Summary The Children’s Ministry Pastor is responsible for providing spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and administrative oversight for all children’s ministry programs (typically birth through 5th or 6th grade). This role focuses on creating a safe, fun, engaging, and biblically grounded environment where children can encounter Jesus, grow in faith, and feel connected to the church community.
This position is starting at 20-30 hours.
Key Responsibilities Spiritual Leadership & Discipleship
Develop and lead a Christ-centered children’s ministry aligned with the church’s mission, vision, and theological convictions
Teach or oversee age-appropriate biblical teaching that is engaging, doctrinally sound, and relevant
Pray regularly for the children, families, volunteers, and ministry leaders
Provide pastoral care and spiritual support to children and their families as needed
Program Development & Oversight
Plan, organize, and oversee weekly children’s ministry programming (e.g., Sunday services, midweek programs if applicable)
Coordinate special events to build community among kids and families
Ensure a welcoming, safe, and well-organized ministry environment
Volunteer Leadership & Training
Recruit, train, equip, and support volunteers for children’s ministry
Foster a healthy, joyful, and spiritually growing volunteer team culture
Schedule volunteers and ensure adequate coverage for all programs
Family & Church Partnership
Partner with parents to support spiritual formation in the home
Communicate regularly with families regarding curriculum, events, and children’s spiritual development
Collaborate with church staff and leadership to integrate children’s ministry into the broader life of the church
Administration & Safety
Maintain clear policies and procedures related to child safety, check-in/check-out, and background checks
Manage ministry budgets and resources responsibly
Ensure compliance with church policies and applicable California child safety requirements
Qualifications Required
A committed and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
Agreement with the church’s beliefs and values
Demonstrated passion for children’s ministry and family discipleship
Experience leading or serving in children’s ministry
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Preferred
Formal theological training, ministry degree, or equivalent experience
Prior pastoral or ministry leadership experience
Experience working in a small-church or volunteer-driven environment
Personal Characteristics
Spiritually mature, humble, and servant-hearted
Vision, future orientated to build and grow the ministry
Energetic, approachable, and relational with children and adults
Organized, dependable, and self-motivated
Creative out of the box thinker, able to work with limited facilities

Work Schedule & Compensation
Schedule includes Sundays and additional hours for preparation, meetings, and special events
Compensation is commensurate with experience and church size
