Summary The Early Head Start Lead Home Visitor meets with parents weekly, implementing the selected curriculum in order to ensure that families have adequate support to ensure the health and development of their child and family. The Early Head Start Lead Home Visitor also coordinates socialization opportunities for families and all comprehensive supports needed. The Early Head Start Lead Home Visitor develops and implements a recruitment and enrollment plan, conducts In Person Interviews with interested families and supports the Program Information Report to ensure data is accurate and up to date. Ensures all health and developmental screenings are conducted timely.
Essential Job Responsibilities Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Drive to family home and deliver health, educational, nutritional and child growth and development information to parents via weekly meetings.
Coordinate with parents to ensure that immunizations, health screenings, and nutrition assessments are complete and necessary follow up occurs.
Complete family partnership agreements, developmental screenings and all other required assessments with families in a timely manner.
Assist and support families in locating resources and scheduling appointments with community resources that best meet their needs.
Provide support in parent and child activities that encourage developmentally appropriate activities for the changing needs of infants and toddlers.
Maintain ongoing contact with the EHS Supervisor to discuss concerns regarding particular children, families or services.
Report suspected abuse or neglect, child injuries, patterns of medical neglect and related concerns as required of Mandated Reporters.
Plan socialization activities twice monthly that meet the needs of all children including those with special needs, those who are gifted, and those who are culturally diverse.
Integrate all Head Start components into classroom time.
Develop and utilize lesson plans that promote the social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Early Head Start children with regard for the family culture and dynamics.
Individualize activities to reflect each child’s unique strengths and needs.
Provide an atmosphere and activities to encourage parental involvement and encourage parents as their child’s first teacher.
Review each child’s goals and develop individual plans that promote current learning and address nutritional, health, and social issues.
Maintain accurate paper and electronic records including health information, assessments, IFSP documentation, screening instruments, anecdotal observations, and other required forms.
Organize and facilitate Parent Committee meetings that include parent education and information relative to current Head Start policies and curriculum.
Coordinate opportunities to support the education of parents as their child’s first teacher.
Participate actively in staff meetings, trainings, and activities as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Plan and coordinate collaboration activities with community agencies serving similar populations.
Meet with Early Head Home Visitors to provide updates on community resources and gather information related to family needs.
Develop and implement a recruitment and enrollment plan with the Early Head Start Supervisor.
Promote recruitment and enrollment through participation in community events and coordination of internal recruitment activities.
Conduct In-Person Interviews with families interested in enrolling, following all Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment and Attendance guidelines.
Establish and maintain an enrollment waitlist.
Ensure developmental and health screenings are completed timely for all families enrolled in the program.
Verify data for the Program Information Report and utilize data to explain any discrepancies or changes.
Qualifications Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Social Services or a closely related field
required
Bilingual (Spanish)
preferred
Previous experience in home visiting demonstrating ability to relate well to children
preferred
Professional or Other Required Clearances
Valid Driver's License & access to reliable transportation
required
Current State Police, Child Abuse, NSOR, and FBI Fingerprints clearances within 1 year
required
Salary Range Project, Head Start, $60,694.40/yr. - $77,563.20/yr. Placement on band is based on years of direct experience in a comparable role. 260 day position, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
