Overview Develops, maintains, and interacts with new prospects and existing customers to maintain and increase the company’s customer base and to achieve rental, sales, and service revenue goals. Establishes new accounts by marketing company product lines and offering value-added services.

Responsibilities

Assists walk-in customers and callers with counter sales & technical support

Demonstrates products to customers

Distributes promotional literature to customers and assists with sales and marketing initiatives to increase market share

Formulates bids on new and existing jobs and projects

Identifies and acquires new service contract opportunities

Receives customer orders and serves as the customer contact point

Generates a referral network to assist in increasing the client base

Occasionally assists in familiarizing customers with equipment and vehicles

Aids in implementing, sustaining, and developing quality improvement processes that focus on safety, financials, operations, and customer service

Maintains records of sales or other business transactions

Prepare sales or other contracts

Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Knowledge of applicable accounting principles, budget preparation, and business acumen

Demonstrated knowledge of construction equipment and the rental industry

Demonstrated knowledge of selling techniques (prospecting, overcoming objections, closing sales)

Excellent selling, negotiating, and closing skills with the ability to build long-term business relationships

Proficient with MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Understands the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making

Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems

Exceptional attention to detail

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments and various levels of the organization

First-class organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills, deadline-oriented

Understands written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents, and communicates effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience

Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and accurately

Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Education And Experience

A minimum of three years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required. Three to five years of experience preferred

A high school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

Valid driver’s license

Supervisory Responsibilities None

Travel No travel is expected for this position

Physical Requirements

This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc.

This role frequently communicates with others, and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines

Work Environment

This job is generally performed in a retail and office environment; exposure to computer screens; exposure to noise, dust, grease, fumes, gases, heat, cold, and inclement weather conditions

Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
