Perform a variety of painting functions on assigned grounds, buildings, facilities and equipment; mix and blend paints according to established guidelines and perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED;
and
One (1) year of painting experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of aCity Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Principles and practices of painting on a wide variety of surfaces
Methods and techniques of mixing paints and enamels
Methods and techniques of surface preparation for painting
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
Operation and maintenance requirements of power-driven equipment
Proper tool and equipment maintenance techniques
Practices, methods and materials used in general maintenance work
Distinguish and match colors
Perform surface preparation and painting on a variety of surfaces
Mix and blend paints according to established guidelines
Clean and maintain various painting equipment and tools
Read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Safety store, transport and handle paints, thinners and related materials
Perform manual tasks for extended periods of time in a variety of weather and environmental conditions
Communicate using a two-way radio
Communicate clearly and concisely
Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
