New Alternatives For Children, Inc. (NAC) is a nonprofit child welfare, health and social services agency that serves children with complex medical and behavioral health conditions and their families in New York City.

Location:

825 7th Avenue, New York, NY, 10019 (Service needed in Manhattan, New York)

Pay Rate:

$60/hour

Children and Family Treatment Support Services

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive evaluation assessments to establish a diagnosis and identify service needs.

Develop detailed treatment plans with child and family, and perform ongoing progress review.

Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy.

Provide crisis intervention services (in-person or telephone) with follow‑up.

Provide intensive individual, family, relationship‑based and supportive counseling focused on problematic behavior.

Offer crisis avoidance and management counseling to prevent or reduce active crises.

Offer rehabilitative psychoeducation and strengths‑based service planning to minimize negative behavioral health symptoms.

Ensure availability at least one weekend day or after‑school/evenings and maintain a consistent schedule approved by supervisor.

Complete required documentation for Medicaid billing within prescribed timeframes.

Complete required and recommended trainings.

Communicate regularly with NAC staff and respond to email/phone within 24 hours.

Participate in supervision as scheduled.

Qualifications

Hold an LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, or LMHC license and knowledge of trauma‑informed care.

Have at least one year of experience in children’s mental health or a related area, working with children and families.

Follow safety precautions needed to protect the child population.

Willingness to work in clients’ homes and communities.

Have quick and easy access to a computer and printer, and be proficient in internet, word processing, and email communication.

Knowledge of and adherence to cultural competency guidelines.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Child welfare experience.

Strong communication with ACS, NAC, and community partners.

Patience, compassion, and empathy for clients.

Effective interpersonal skills for fostering healthy relationships with clients and colleagues.

Good mediation and conflict resolution skills.
