Position Overview
We are seeking a Surgery Scheduler for our Minnesota Urology practice in Edina. This full‑time position runs Monday‑Friday during regular daytime hours and does not involve evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Minnesota Urology is the largest independent urologic specialty practice in Minnesota and combines two of the state’s most respected independent urology practices.
Primary Objective Efficiently and effectively schedule patients for services provided by Minnesota Urology physicians. The role serves as a liaison between physicians, patients, clinics, hospitals, and surgery centers.
Responsibilities
Schedule patients accurately and efficiently for any surgical procedure requested by physicians.
Inform patients of special diets, prep instructions, insurance/referral information, arrival times, dates, and locations.
Organize work to promote efficiency and problem‑solve scheduling issues affecting physicians and clinic operations.
Stay current on insurance requirements and follow all guidelines.
Document scheduled surgeries in NextGen/UroChart as appropriate.
Ensure patients have required pre‑certifications, prior authorizations, and referrals.
Reschedule or cancel surgery and post‑op appointments to minimize patient inconvenience, including notifying appropriate hospitals or surgery centers.
Maintain accurate daily physician surgery schedules.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of one year of surgery scheduling experience.
Medical terminology knowledge required.
Experience with insurance preferred.
Knowledge of current EMR systems preferred (training will be provided).
Compensation Minimum starting pay of $22.00 per hour, up to $27.50 per hour based on direct appointment scheduling experience in healthcare. Other factors include specialized skills and internal equity.
