The Patient Service Specialist role serves as a key first point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and welcoming registration experience. The Patient Access representative is responsible for the accurate and timely registration of patients, including the collection and validation of demographic and insurance information and the completion of all required appointment paperwork. This position plays a critical role in verifying insurance eligibility, securing required authorizations, and collecting patient financial responsibility at the time of service. In addition, the role ensures AHCCCS verifications are completed for all self-pay or unverifiable payer sources. Working collaboratively with management and interdisciplinary teams, this position proactively identifies and resolves issues that may impact billing accuracy and reimbursement, supporting both patient satisfaction and organizational revenue integrity.
Hourly Pay Rate: $18.24 - $26.90 Qualifications Education Requires a high school diploma or GED certificate.
Experience Requires one to two (1-2) years of general clerical, customer service, or medical experience, preferably in a healthcare environment involving data reconciliation.
Certification/Licensure Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at the time of hire. Must complete a fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of the hire date. Must present the actual card within 90 days of applying for a fingerprint clearance card.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must have the ability to travel to clinics throughout the system based on staffing needs.
Requires excellent data entry skills, including 10-key by touch and accurate typing of 30 words per minute.
Basic Math Skills are required.
Must be able to demonstrate obtaining and validating demographic information to accurately and timely complete the patient’s medical record.
Must possess good verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills, including basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation knowledge.
Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
Critical thinking skills are strongly preferred.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
