DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, site or highway construction and paving.
Properly follows company and OSHA safety procedures. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, superintendent, or safety director.
Follows daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings.
Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment.
Assists in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices. Controls traffic at worksites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas, as required or assigned.
Assists in training lower-level employees performing the maintenance and repair duties as required or assigned.
Make daily pre-trip inspections of assigned truck and other assigned equipment
Drive assigned vehicle/equipment to and from job site, as directed
Operate equipment properly and in accordance with all manufacturer recommendations and training, in order to complete the necessary task.
Manually load or unload equipment, materials or supplies
Correctly load and secure all loads
Assist in traffic control as directed
Assist in maintenance of assigned equipment
Responsible for maintaining assigned PPE and having proper PPE on hand for scheduled work.
Responsible for providing, maintaining and attending work with hand tools listed on the required tools list provided to employee at hire.
Participate in all required safety training including weekly ToolBox Talks.
Clean and organize warehouse, shop, yard, office and vehicles to maintain a clean, safe work environment
Must follow all company policies, procedures, and protocols.
Any other duties assigned as needed.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Must possess good interpersonal skills

Good hand and foot coordination
Ability to read and understand gauges and other indicators.
Ability to troubleshoot problems and offer solutions.
Strong critical thinking skills
Ability to apply concepts of basic math
Ability to manage time between two or more projects at one time.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and procedures
Possess minimum ability to read a tape measure
The ability to apply knowledge and skills to achieve intended results
Must successfully complete First Aid, CPR, AED and Flagger when assigned by the company
Must successfully complete Forklift certification –
understand you are not permitted to operate company forklift until certification is received.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a current Driver's License, CDL A preferred
Must be a minimum of 21-years-old to operate a company vehicle
Ability to proficiently operate excavator, skid loader, forklift, telehandler, and bucket truck
The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations
Must be able to successfully complete the pre-employment process including a background check, motor vehicle report (MVR), and a drug screen.
