What will you be doing?
The Industrial HVAC Technician Tech 3 will report into the Facility Maintenance Team. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, independence, and leadership in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of industrial HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
As an Industrial HVAC Technician you will serve as an independent HVAC site resource, capable of handling complex service calls while working alongside both in-house and external contractors in support of Facility Operations at SN.
Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on advanced HVAC systems including: Chillers/Boilers, DX Equipment (Package Units), Building Management Systems (BMS) and Controls, Make-Up Air (MAU) Units, Refrigeration Systems, and Compressed Air Systems.
Participate in on-call rotation as required.
Ensure compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Maintain accurate service documentation and complete required reports in a timely manner.
Lead troubleshooting efforts and repairs HVAC systems.
Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Provide sketches and dimensions used by drafters to create plans for subcontractor work.
Interpret and apply mechanical and structural blueprints to plan plumbing repairs and modifications.
In coordination with management, complete and track corrective and preventive maintenance tasks and renovation/construction tasks given to subordinate plumbers or contractors.
Using the CMMS work order system, prioritize and complete work orders for all campuses for PMs and regular work; follow through with support staff/contractors to verify work has been completed and work orders closed out properly.
Work with outside vendors, engineers and consultants on projects affecting plumbing systems on buildings and incorporate their designs for SN.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
What will you need to be successful?
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Graduate of trade or vocational school in related field.
Valid EPA Certification (Universal preferred).
Journeyman or Master HVAC License (where applicable).
Minimum of 5+ years as a commercial HVAC Service Technician, with demonstrated mastery of advanced systems.
Demonstrated experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of a variety of equipment for industrial and commercial applications including but not limited to refrigeration, air conditioning, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, hermetic compressors, light commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, intake and exhaust fans, economizers, humidifiers, capacity controls, semi-hermetic compressors, split systems, flame safeguard controls, air compressors, air driers, chillers, and packaged units.
Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
Ability to lead others in troubleshooting and emergency repairs.
Ability to develop and implement planned maintenance programs.
Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures.
Be able and willing to respond 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Be able to work weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.
Oral/Written Communication Skills.
Customer Service (internal customer base for manufacturing).
Diplomacy.
Standing and walking: Extended periods of standing and walking are required for monitoring and working throughout facilities.
Lifting and carrying: The ability to frequently lift up to 50-75 pounds is often necessary, with occasional lifting of even heavier items (up to 150 pounds with assistance).
Bending, stooping, and kneeling: These movements are frequently required to perform cleaning tasks, pick up objects, and operate equipment.
Repetitive motion: Tasks involve repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers, such as using cleaning equipment.
Reaching: Reaching is required to access high and difficult-to-reach areas.
