Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction: Develop and deliver dynamic, standards-aligned lessons using project-based, inquiry-based, and interdisciplinary methods.
Student Engagement: Use diverse techniques, technology, and real-world connections to make subjects like history, geography, and civics relevant.
Classroom Management: Maintain a respectful, productive, and safe environment, managing student behavior according to school guidelines.
Assessment & Feedback: Create projects, essays, and tests; provide timely, constructive feedback; and report on student progress.
Differentiation: Adapt teaching for special needs and diverse learning styles, ensuring equitable access.
Collaboration: Work with grade-level teams, administration, and other staff on curriculum, school initiatives, and student support.
Parent Communication: Maintain ongoing dialogue with parents about student strengths, needs, and progress.
Professional Development: Attend training and workshops to stay current with best practices and advance skills.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of Social Studies content (history, civics, geography, economics).
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage student behavior and foster positive relationships.
Flexibility and ability to work with students at various developmental levels.
Proficiency with educational technology.
Education and Experience:
NE teaching certification.
Relevant Bachelor's degree (often in a Social Studies field).
Must be Safe Environment trained before employment begins.
