Purpose As a Full‑Time Loan Associate at our Corporate Location (4830 N Ballard Rd, Appleton, WI 54913), you will be a highly responsible and versatile member of the Credit Union’s lending team. You support both mortgage and commercial lending operations at an advanced level, assisting lenders throughout the full loan application process and independently moving loans from application to closing.
Responsibilities
Mortgage Lending Support
Assist mortgage loan officers and Sr. MLOs in the full loan application process, managing files from initial application through closing and funding.
Collect, verify, and analyze borrower information to ensure full compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with title companies, appraisers, and third‑party vendors to ensure smooth and timely updates to loan officers and management.
Perform post‑closing reviews and manage document retention to uphold accuracy and compliance standards.
Commercial Lending Support
Support commercial lenders and act as an operational backup to the VP Commercial Lender across all stages of the commercial lending process.
Assist with funding, renewals, annual reviews, and ongoing portfolio maintenance.
Prepare and maintain commercial lending reports including maturities, covenant tracking, and loan performance metrics.
Review borrower financial statements, tax returns, and supporting documents for credit analysis and annual review preparation.
Ensure all commercial loan files and system data are complete, accurate, and compliant with internal and regulatory expectations.
Member and Team Support
Deliver exceptional member service by addressing inquiries and guiding members through each step of the lending process from application to closing.
Work closely with loan officers, underwriters, processors, and operations staff to ensure effective communication and workflow efficiencies.
Identify opportunities to refine lending processes, reduce operational friction, and improve overall member experience.
Support internal/external audits, loan reviews, compliance checks, and data integrity initiatives.
Cross‑Functional and Backup Responsibilities
Serve as a reliable backup to Sr. MLOs, mortgage lending staff, commercial lending staff, and the VP Commercial Lender, ensuring uninterrupted lending operations.
Participate in departmental projects, system enhancements, workflow improvements, and strategic lending initiatives.
Provide occasional guidance to junior or new team members to support cross‑training and talent development.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3‑5 years of experience in loan processing, lending operations, or financial institution support preferred.
Knowledge of mortgage and commercial lending standards, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with credit union core systems and LOS platforms preferred.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong communication skills with an unwavering commitment to accuracy, service, and teamwork.
