A Day in the Life The Sr. Manager, Quality Operations leads manufacturing quality and NPI across the Irvine Technology Center (ITC) with direct oversight of managers and cross‑functional teams. Serves as site quality leader with global and corporate influence, driving risk‑based strategies, compliant operations, and scalable product introductions. Partners with cross‑functional teams to set direction, allocate resources, and deliver measurable improvements in manufacturing, business, and customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

Leadership & People Development

Provide effective leadership to a multi‑tiered organization, including direct management of managers and oversight of Quality Engineers and Technicians.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth across the quality organization.

Strategic Quality Oversight

Drive consistent, risk‑based quality support across all ITC manufacturing sites to ensure compliance and product excellence while meeting critical business needs.

Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance programs, policies, and controls that meet global regulatory requirements and corporate initiatives.

Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and improve customer satisfaction.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

Lead quality integration for new product launches, ensuring seamless transition into manufacturing and alignment with sustaining operations and the quality management system.

Partner with R&D and MS&T to anticipate and mitigate risks during product development and scale‑up.

Site Leadership & Governance

Serve as a senior site leader for quality, representing the function in executive forums.

Oversee site‑wide strategies for nonconformance investigations, CAPA, and validation/verification activities.

Resource & Project Management

Allocate resources strategically to lead, plan, and execute complex projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)

The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

7 Years of Relevant Experience

5 Years of Demonstrated Leadership

Work location: Onsite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Experience in Quality/Manufacturing/Operations/Engineering in Medical Device.

Experience with hands‑on troubleshooting of complex electromechanical/optical machines/consoles.

Experience working in current Quality Management Systems (MES, SAP, Trackwise, Teamcenter).
