BrightStar Care Doral is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team and promote the health and well-being of students. The School LPN plays a vital role in supporting academic success by ensuring a healthy and safe school environment.

Position Summary:

The School LPN is responsible for providing comprehensive health services to students, managing health care plans, administering medications, responding to emergencies, and promoting health education within the school community. This role acts as a crucial link between students, families, school staff, and community healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct Student Care: Assess and evaluate the health status of students, including vital signs, symptoms, and medical history. Provide first aid and emergency care for injuries and acute illnesses. Administer prescribed medications and perform medical procedures (e.g., g-tube feedings, catheterizations, tracheostomy care) as ordered by a physician and within the scope of practice. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) for students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies, epilepsy). Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, etc.) and refer students for further evaluation as needed. Health Promotion and Education: Promote a healthy school environment through education on hygiene, nutrition, physical activity, and disease prevention. Provide health counseling to students on various topics, including mental health, substance abuse prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices. Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate health education into the curriculum. Assist in the prevention and control of communicable diseases within the school. Case Management and Coordination: Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including immunization records and emergency contacts, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA). Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns, treatments, and follow-up care. Collaborate with school personnel (teachers, administrators, counselors) to address student health needs and support academic success. Coordinate with community healthcare providers and social services to ensure continuity of care for students. Participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and 504 Plan meetings for students with health-related needs. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency plans for various health situations, including allergic reactions, diabetic emergencies, and other medical crises. Train and educate school staff on basic first aid, CPR, and emergency procedures. Maintain well-stocked first aid supplies and emergency equipment. Professional Development and Compliance: Stay current with best practices in school nursing, pediatric health, and relevant health and education laws. Adhere to all ethical guidelines, professional standards, and district policies and procedures. Participate in ongoing professional development and training. Qualifications:

Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Florida. Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or, preferably, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Minimum of [X, e.g., 1-2] years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics, public health, or emergency care. Knowledge of child growth and development, common childhood illnesses, and chronic health conditions. Familiarity with state health laws and school health policies. Bilingual abilities. Ability to adapt to a dynamic school environment and manage multiple priorities. Basic computer skills, including experience with electronic health records and Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications (Optional):

National Certified School Nurse (NCSN) certification. Experience working in a school setting. Working Conditions:
