Senior Consultant (Finance)
Tetra Tech’s Atlanta, GA office is currently seeking a Senior Consultant. Responsibilities include interpreting federal, state, and local regulations; analyzing, overseeing, and reviewing project work products such as site‑specific technical data, calculations, technical reports, construction plans, cost estimates, environmental permit applications, and permit terms and conditions; applying these to transactional diligence, environmental, and remediation industries; building client relationships; supporting new business development; and mentoring junior staff. The role may require on‑site work and short‑term travel.
Essential Job Functions
Interpret federal, state, and local agency regulations.
Assess potential environmental impacts and challenges.
Scope and direct projects, including leadership of project teams.
Analyze data and review project work products, including site-specific technical data, calculations, technical reports, cost estimates, environmental permit applications, and permit terms and conditions.
Plan, develop, coordinate, and help direct work for multi‑project clients and multiple clients.
Support strategic initiatives for continued work with key clients and business sectors.
Maintain quality control on projects and on administrative tasks.
Work independently to perform project tasks, design, calculations, and reporting to meet the project specific requirements.
Be a point of contact for clients and maintain a positive relationship with clients.
Manage multiple smaller company priorities and projects.
Work at contaminated sites, and/or other sites where heavy equipment, contamination, or other health hazards may exist.
Be able to travel for short‑duration projects as needed.
Assist with proposals, including development of technical plans, schedules, and cost estimates, and preparation with staff and with the client.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
BS degree in engineering, geology, or closely related environmental field.
8–10 years of experience in environmental consulting or a closely related field.
Professional Engineer/Professional Geologist license or ability to acquire within one year of employment.
Transactional diligence experience required with private equity clientele.
Highly organized, disciplined, and able to work collaboratively across various business units.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Ability to think and act critically and strategically.
Experience with site investigations and remediation.
Ability to perform field work in various environmental factors.
Ability to travel and perform field work (approx. 25–50 % of field work required).
Pre‑employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications
MS degree in engineering, geology, or closely related environmental field.
Project management experience including budgets and invoicing.
Business development experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 10 lbs occasionally; infrequent lifting of up to 25 lbs.
Requires use of hands for typing, handling materials, and operating office equipment.
Vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to walk across variable terrain, including uneven ground, in all weather conditions (slopes, hot/cold temperatures, loud noises, heavy equipment, contaminated media).
Ability to travel and perform field work/oversight (approx. 25–50 % of travel required).
Full range of motion to support field activities.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors
Position based out of the Atlanta, GA office with potential hybrid/remote work schedule.
Field work may involve weather, altitude, terrain, noise, contaminated media, long periods of standing, walking, lifting, bending, or sitting.
Office work involves extended periods sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer.
Additional Information
Full‑time, Monday through Friday schedule (40 hrs). Occasional extended hours may be required.
Work performed in an office and field setting.
Target salary range: $90,000 to $100,000.
