Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon

– Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. Kings County Hospital operates a world‑renowned Level 1 Trauma Center, one of only three in Brooklyn, serving 2.6 million residents of Brooklyn and Staten Island.

Opportunity Details

Provide inpatient/outpatient surgical and non‑surgical care

Perform surgery on complex orthopedic trauma cases:

Pelvic fractures, long bone and intra‑articular fractures, upper/lower extremity trauma

Serve as Orthopedic Trauma Service Chief and liaison to multi‑disciplinary trauma committee

Participate in:

Emergency call schedule (24/7 coverage per ACS Level 1 Trauma standards)

ACS trauma activities (data collection, compliance, trauma meetings)

Quality programs (required by hospital and American College of Surgeons)

Conduct critical review of orthopedic consultations from Emergency Department and inpatient units

Lead and mentor orthopedic surgery residents, medical students, physician assistants, and other staff

Qualifications

Board Eligible/Certified in Orthopedic Surgery

Fellowship‑trained in Orthopedic Trauma

New York State Physician License

Advanced expertise in pelvic/intra‑articular fractures, osteomyelitis, bone defect, limb lengthening, non‑unions, and other complex pathologies

French/Haitian Creole language skills preferred, but not required

Wages and Benefits Annual Base Salary: $519,000

based on a 40‑hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.

The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $632,000 . This includes baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors.

Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $78,000.

401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):

Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.

After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.

Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.

Generous annual paid time off (PTO): vacation, sick, holiday, and CME days.

Medical, prescription, and dental coverage: top‑tier plans with employee contributions significantly below market rates.

Life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) coverage: equal to 2x salary (up to $300,000) provided at no cost.

Loan forgiveness: position may be eligible for loan forgiveness through certain state or federal programs.

Medical malpractice coverage (equivalent to occurrence‑based): provided at no cost to the employee.

Pre‑tax employee‑paid contributions for commuting expenses.

Visa sponsorship will be considered for this position.
