Position Purpose This position provides indirect and direct patient care within the rehabilitation environment. The incumbent assists in the management of the physical environment including, but not limited to, cleaning the gym space and equipment, ordering supplies, basic maintenance of equipment, patient scheduling, and clerical duties.
Nature and Scope This position is a supporting role in the Rehab therapy department. It is responsible for providing continuity of business operations, support functions, and direct patient care functions under the supervision of Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech‑Language Pathologists, and Therapy Leadership. The incumbent transports equipment and supplies, assists therapists with patient mobility and activities of daily living, transports patients for speech studies, and assists with feeding patients during speech exams. The position also performs basic maintenance and cleaning of various therapy equipment items, including cleaning and reprocessing endoscopes.
The incumbent must possess the ability to communicate with patients and families in a caring and professional manner and must be able to function independently in a fast‑pace, high‑intensity atmosphere. This role requires accuracy, effective communication, the ability to manage priorities while responding simultaneously to requests from multiple parties, and the ability to function under stress.
Key responsibilities include:
Transporting equipment and supplies
Clerical responsibilities
Ordering and stocking therapy supplies
Assisting therapists with patient mobility and activities of daily living as directed by licensed therapists
Assisting with higher level balance activities, as directed by licensed therapists
Directing patients in therapeutic exercises/activities as directed by licensed therapists
Setting up and assisting with diagnostic studies
Performing high‑level disinfection and reprocessing of endoscopes while maintaining comprehensive quality assurance standards related to sterilization and infection control
Setting up and performing therapeutic modalities (including Mechanical Traction, Electrical Stimulation, and Paraffin) as directed by licensed therapists
Performing basic maintenance and cleaning of various therapy equipment
Assisting in scheduling and check‑in/check‑out procedures for patient appointments/schedules
Taking and recording vital signs as directed by licensed therapists
Per diem staff are required to work at least one major and one minor holiday each year. Major holidays include Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Minor holidays include New Years Eve, New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day. If the area is closed on major holidays, staff must work at least one day the week of the holiday period.
This position does provide patient care.

Education:
