Mechanical Engineer – Naval Valve Systems Hunt Valve Company Summary Hunt Valve Company has been designing and manufacturing shipboard valves for the U.S. Navy and allied naval customers for decades. Essential Job Functions
Learn and interpret technical requirements from Naval customers and assist in implementing engineering solutions
Participate in product design reviews to ensure compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer specifications
Collaborate closely with in‑house manufacturing teams and external vendors to support production schedules and resolve design or test issues
Assist with qualifying new vendors and developing strong working relationships
Support evaluation and approval of design changes, specifications, and drawing releases
Develop a working knowledge of Hunt Valve products, processes, and industry requirements
Create 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings using
SolidWorks , with a strong emphasis on translating models into accurate, production‑ready drawings
Gain hands‑on experience through time spent in the manufacturing shop environment
Skills & Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with teammates, leadership, customers, and vendors
Working knowledge of 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Familiarity with ANSI drawing standards and GD&T (training and mentorship provided)
High attention to detail when reviewing drawings, creating Bills of Materials (BOMs), and preparing technical documentation
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and seek guidance when needed
Exposure to non‑destructive testing (NDT), machining, manufacturing, or inspection processes is a plus
Essential Job Requirements Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution
Experience
1‑5 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
entry level candidates with relevant internships, co‑ops, or hands‑on project experience are encouraged to apply
