General Summary As an Origination Analyst on our Environmental Products team, your core focus will be to contribute to our growing portfolio of forestry-based carbon projects. You will enjoy significant responsibility for the management of your own projects within a supportive and collaborative team environment.
Primary Responsibilities and Competencies
Prepare written carbon project feasibility analysis documents for landowners
Perform statistical analyses of forest inventories and other data sets
Analyze remote sensing databases to produce accurate estimates of carbon sequestration and emissions reductions
Conduct silvicultural research across project regions
Manage geospatial data and produce maps using ArcGIS or other geospatial software
Analyze financial costs and benefits of carbon project development
Review easements/harvest prohibitions and conduct project eligibility due diligence
Articulate carbon analysis processes for landowners
Travel is less than 10%
Required Education, Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in forestry or another applicable discipline
1 or more years of professional experience in forestry or forest carbon-related field
Experience implementing afforestation/reforestation activities
Experience working with a variety of forms of timber data
Knowledge of a variety of North American forest types
Experience in ArcGIS mapping and analysis
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, knowledge of database management a plus
Experience cleaning and troubleshooting data
Experience in statistical analysis
Knowledge of forest carbon policy, carbon protocols (compliance and voluntary), and carbon accounting standards
Experience and comfort managing client and third-party relationships.
Preferred Education, Qualifications & Experience
Master’s degree in forestry or another applicable discipline
2 or more years of professional experience in forestry or forest carbon-related field
Knowledge of database management (MS Access preferred)
Knowledge of R Statistical Software
