Unit Description: The Vascular Access Services (VAS) team specializes in providing safe, efficient, and skilled placement of vascular access devices. This includes peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), midlines, central lines, and ultrasound‑guided IVs. The team ensures patients receive reliable vascular access to support therapies such as IV medications, fluids, and nutrition. Our team focuses on the following:
Advanced practice in ultrasound‑guided vascular access, ensuring precision and safety in even the most complex cases
Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, critical care, oncology, surgical, and medical units, to deliver timely access for patients with challenging needs.
Troubleshooting line complications and serving as subject matter experts for vascular access device management and care.
* Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients.
* Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.
* Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
* Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self‑care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.
