Maintenance Technician – 1st Shift – Sun‑Tues, 5:15 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. – $30.00 /hr
Description:
The Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing equipment and facilities within a food manufacturing environment. This position involves a combination of technical skills, problem‑solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic working environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance
Perform routine preventive maintenance on production machinery, including conveyors, mixers, packaging equipment, and refrigeration systems.
Conduct inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to ensure equipment operates efficiently and meets production requirements.
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime.
Respond promptly to emergency unscheduled troubleshooting and repairs to prevent disruptions.
Facility Maintenance
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the production area, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards and food safety regulations.
Monitor and repair facility systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) to support a safe and comfortable working environment.
Safety and Compliance
Adhere to all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, PPE usage, and safe work practices.
Participate in safety training and contribute to safety initiatives.
Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and company food‑safety policies.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, inspections, and inventory.
Document equipment repairs, parts replacements, and maintenance procedures.
Collaboration and Communication
Coordinate with production supervisors and operators to prioritize tasks and minimize disruptions.
Communicate with cross‑functional teams (engineering, QA, safety) to address issues and implement solutions.
Provide technical assistance and training to production staff.
Flexibility to work non‑standard hours (evenings, weekends, holidays).
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical school education preferred.
5 years of related experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably a food processing plant.
5 years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Electrical troubleshooting/repairs on PLC, relay logic, 480‑V, 220‑V, 110‑V AC, and DC systems.
Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, and SCADA systems.
Strong understanding of motors, drives, and industrial sensors.
Knowledge of safety standards for electrical and control systems.
Excellent problem‑solving and attention to detail.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and learn new technologies.
Mechanical repairs including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Computer operation for maintenance management system documentation.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, odors, noise, vibration, and variable temperatures.
Physical demands: lifting up to 50 lb, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, twisting.
Requires good vision, hearing, and communication with associates.
