A Brief Overview The Employee Relations Consultant (hereinafter referred to as “ER Consultant” or “ERC”) is the first point of contact to provide advice and support on all employees relations matters to managers and supervisors. The ERC will help ensure a fair and consistent delivery throughout the Corporation on HR programs, policies and procedures related to claims’ investigations as well as disciplinary actions and the applicable laws and regulations, thus promoting a positive ER culture within the business, while minimizing risks and litigation. This position includes within its scope: claims’ investigations, change and conflict management, overseeing of performance improvement plans, management of reasonable accommodations, among other related tasks. ERC will serve as liaison between the Business Units and the Human Resources Division assisting and advising company managers and supervisors regarding disciplinary matters related to performance and conduct, among others. ERC will also advise all employees regarding their rights and responsibilities as related to disciplinary actions and claims. The ER Consultant performs all his/her duties within the legal employment law framework related to local and federal laws. ERC is also in charge of preparing a variety of reports including employee’s file analysis, claims’ reports, claims’ logs, among other related documents.
What you’ll do
Advises and supports managers and supervisors in the handling of all employee relations matters, providing adequate solutions at the earliest opportunity through an objective and uniform process, ensuring procedures and best practices are consistently and fairly applied.
Investigates a variety of Human Resources related issues including sensitive and complex situations received through different sources, including the whistleblower line (PLU), preparation of written reports with clear conclusions and presentation of cases following protocol for discussion with the Employee Relations Manager for proper determination, recommendation and/or referral.
Ensures effective case management following the investigation protocol and positive progressive discipline.
Develops effective relationships with the business units to promote valuable employee relations across the corporation.
Manages the introduction of new or revised employee relations’ policies and procedures, including delivery of workshops, ensuring employees are appropriately equipped to manage such changes.
Provides ongoing management briefing and coaching, through one‑to‑one, round tables or group learning sessions, to ensure consistent application of policies and adherence to best practices in the management of ER related issues.
Recommends changes to established HR practices and the streamlining procedures to allow for improved HR services and outcome‑focused solutions for the organization.
Visits the business units to learn firsthand about ER issues or simply observe working environment and other HR situations.
Attends and participates in business meetings that involve a range of issues as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of developing recommendations and/or supporting the business.
Supports managers and supervisors on performance management issues, assists with PIP and ensures its implementation and follow up on final result for proper action.
Assists and advises company managers about Human Resources norms, policies, procedures, as well as other ER related matters.
Analyzes and coordinates requests for reasonable accommodation.
Analyzes and coordinates cases of domestic violence following the protocol and HR procedures.
Offers orientation and counseling to employees on a diversity of ER related matters.
Enforces employee’s compliance with Bank policies and procedures as well as federal and local laws and regulations.
Advises by phone or travels to other regions to investigate employee relations matters.
Prepares and submits HR reports including personnel claims log, PIP statistics, etc.

What You’ll Need to Succeed A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Industrial Psychology or Business Administration as well as three to five years of similar experience are required for this job. MBA preferred. Proven experience in employee relation, change and conflict management is a must.
