Job Summary Direct and coordinate all phases of the activities within the designated work groups that may include Mill, Operations, Loadout, Yard, Pit 2/ Reclamation, Pit 3, Olive Pit, temporary Pits and Maintenance. Other work groups may be added at the discretion of management. Responsible for inspecting work area, coordinating of work team activities, ordering of parts and supplies, maintenance of the operations within the designated areas which can include, but not limited to: dredge, plant, dust machines, support equipment, and lake areas. The Foreman is also responsible for maintaining and ordering parts, lubricants, and supplies in order to maintain equipment in assigned work areas. The Foreman is to ensure that all work is carried out by the work team in a safe, environmentally compliant and efficient manner. The Foreman is also required to ensure that all employees have the proper personal protection equipment, complete all needed paperwork and to lead the daily pre-planning meetings.

Hourly Rate: $43.95

Main Responsibilities

Reports directly to the Aggregate Manager and/or Superintendent

Ensures that production product is up to specs and/ or import is placed properly

Works with the Aggregate Manager and/or Superintendent on scheduling of employees

Maintains production and inspection logs and makes sure that they are submitted on a daily basis

Responsible for ordering parts and supplies for maintaining the plant and its associated work areas

Works with the Aggregate Manager and/or Superintendent on maintaining an effective Preventive Maintenance Program for the plant and its associated work areas

Responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment for all individuals who work or visit the work sites

Inspect equipment prior to shift for safety, cleanliness, environmental and maintenance defects

Monitor ground conditions in area where your team is working

Complete Daily pre/post equipment inspections - report as needed to Aggregate Manager, Superintendent and/ or Shop

Complete Environmental compliance reports - as requested and communicates with Soil Tech daily

Monitor and assist crew in completing needed maintenance and housekeeping tasks to ensure compliant work tasks and safe work environment

Complete repairs within designated work area as needed

Other duties as assigned by Aggregate Manager and/or Superintendent

Skills

10 years’ experience in aggregate mining and/or reclamation or equivalent

Knowledgeable in all phases of heavy equipment

Must be able to read blue prints and grade stakes

Must know cuts and fills

GPS knowledge preferred

Knowledge of iPads preferred

Some knowledge on Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook preferred

Demonstrated ability in identifying, communicating and implementing best operating practices, including quality, maintenance, production and safety excellence

Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive company vehicle

Understands MSHA and CALOSHA regulations

Must have a strong, team oriented work ethic with strong focus on safety and environmental compliance

Ability to understand and follow Company Handbook and Safety Policies

Ability to work well and communicate with others

Must have a strong mechanical aptitude

Must be able to follow oral and written plans and directions

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, balance, and climb

Good vision (wither naturally or with correction)

Able to lift 50 pounds on a routine basis

Able to work in wet and dry conditions and extreme heat and cold

Work in an environment that may include mechanical parts, airborne particles and moderate to loud noises requiring the consistent use of proper PPE

Ability to walk on uneven surfaces

Work overtime and various shifts times as required

Ability to operate heavy equipment as necessary
