Position Summary:
The Associate Pastor over Music serves the church by overseeing and leading the music ministry in a way that is doctrinally sound, God-honoring, and consistent with the Baptist doctrine. He is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading congregational worship that is rooted in Scripture and centers on the glory of God, the exaltation of Christ, and the edification of the saints.
Primary Responsibilities:
Plan and lead weekly worship services in coordination with the senior pastor and preaching schedule.
Select theologically rich hymns, psalms, and biblically faithful songs.
Lead the congregation in singing and accompany with an instrument (e.g., piano, guitar).
Prepare and lead special services (e.g., Good Friday, Christmas, etc.).
Ministry Oversight:
Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers within the music ministry (vocalists, instrumentalists, sound team).
Schedule and lead regular rehearsals.
Oversee the church’s audio/visual and livestream ministries.
Pastoral Duties (as available and qualified):
Assist in teaching, preaching, and discipleship as gifted and directed by the senior pastor/elders.
Be actively involved in being part of the church family, as possible.
Qualifications: Spiritual and Theological
A regenerate, baptized believer with a clear gifting in music and passion for teaching through song.
Demonstrated godly character and spiritual maturity.
Educational and Experiential
Skilled vocally and/or instrumentally, with the ability to lead worship effectively.
Personal Qualities
Humble, teachable, and committed to team ministry.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to disciple and develop others in both musical and spiritual growth. (Preferred, not required)
Committed to expositional preaching, the centrality of the gospel, and reverent, participatory worship.
Additional Information: This is a pastoral position and the candidate must meet the biblical qualifications of an elder (1 Tim. 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9).
Reports directly to the Pastor and is accountable to the board of elders.
