University Retirement Community (URC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated
Infection Preventionist
to join our 5-star rated Skilled Nursing Facility, serving 37 residents within our larger Continuing Care Retirement Community in
Davis, California .

What You’ll Be Doing: You’ll lead and manage infection prevention and control programs across our community, supporting both residents and staff while ensuring compliance with local and federal health guidelines. In addition to managing COVID-19 protocols, immunizations, and surveillance efforts, this role includes crossover into
Director of Staff Development (DSD)
duties—such as clinical staff onboarding, training, and continued education. You may also assist with
med cart duties
during short-staffed periods and will share
on-call coverage on an alternating basis
with the Director of Nursing (DON). You’ll play a key role in maintaining best practices in infection control while building and supporting a strong clinical care team.
How You’ll Do It:
Partner with healthcare leadership and the IDT to implement effective infection control strategies.
Stay current with CDC, CMS, DHS, and public health guidance to ensure regulatory compliance.
Conduct routine infection surveillance rounds, environmental reviews, and manage N95 fit testing.
Oversee community immunization programs, including Influenza, Pneumococcal, and TB testing.
Coordinate COVID-19 screenings, testing, vaccine clinics, and contact tracing.
Lead and support DSD functions including staff orientation, education, and competency development.
Participate in QAPI initiatives, emergency preparedness, and safety efforts.
Advocate for resident rights and embody PRS’s mission, vision, and values.
Step in with direct care or staffing support as needed.
About You:
Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the state of California.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in infection control, skilled nursing, home care management, or a related healthcare setting.
Familiarity with National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) reporting and Department of Health requirements.
Current and valid CPR certification.
Schedule:
Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Occasional weekend coverage as needed
Rotating on-call coverage with the Director of Nursing (DON)
Wages:
LVN: $80,000 - $90,000 / annually DOE
RN: $110,000 - $115,000 / annually DOE
