The Burlington County Department of Resource Conservation Parks Division is seeking a motivated, professional, and dedicated individual for the position of Parks Grounds Supervisor. The Parks Grounds Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising staff and contractors in maintaining park grounds – including lawns, horticulture beds, trees, trails, meadows, infrastructure, snow removal, event set-up/breakdown, and other duties as necessary while engaging with the public.

Under direction, determines work procedures and prepares schedules for daily, seasonal and annual grounds maintenance. Assigns duties to staff, periodically inspects sites, work and equipment to provide constructive feedback and ensure conformance to safety, policies and procedures; manages supplies and inventories, and recommends personnel actions including training, hiring, and discipline. Reviews contracts and proposals, solicits vendors, direct and monitor contractor work. Work closely and coordinate efforts with other Parks supervisors and County units.

This is an essential position, requiring carrying a cell phone and responding to calls and messages throughout the year.

REQUIREMENTS AGE: Not less than eighteen (18) years of age.

LICENSE: Appointees must possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey. NJ Pesticide Applicator Certification in class 3A or 3B within one (1) year of employment.

EDUCATION: Graduation from high school, vocational high school, or possession of an approved high school equivalency certificate. Horticulture, arboriculture and turf degrees and certificates preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of experience involving maintenance and operations of grounds, facilities, infrastructure and related equipment, preferably in a public park system; including at least two (2) years as a supervisor.

NOTE: Satisfactory completion of thirty (30) semester hours of credit at an accredited college or university with at least six (6) semester hours of credit in one of the following areas may be substituted for one (1) year of the above experience: park and recreation management or related coursework.
