Child Welfare - Registered Nurse
to join our highly compassionate team in the
Child Welfare Division . Help make a difference!
The Children’s Health and Development Program (CHDP) is a multidisciplinary program that includes child welfare, medical providers, nursing and community partners. Our main function is to identify and provide treatment plans to meet the well-being needs for children entering foster care in Wake County. CHDP is a leader among public health – child welfare partnerships in North Carolina and works closely with other state agencies.
Primary job functions include:
Conducting home visits independently and with child welfare workers, to assess and target risk factors for child maltreatment
Reviewing medical and behavioral health records to recommend and coordinate needed resources and services
Providing assistance in prevention, in-home, and post permanency program areas to identify, document and meet the well-being needs of children (Attend child and family team meetings, appear in court)
Ensuring referral, increasing engagement and monitoring follow through with other Wake County programs, including Child Care Coordination for Children, Nurse Family Partnership, and the Child Care Health Consultant Program
Serving in a Public Health Clinic one day per week

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing
No specific experience required
Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse as issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Two (2) years providing nursing care in outpatient clinical or community-based health services
How Will We Know You're 'The One'?
Ability to maintain effective and open communication with all team members
Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships with co-workers and clients
Knowledge of the medical billing process, including insurance and self-pay clients
Ability to access and navigate in NC Tracks, GE Centricity, Virtual Health, OnBase, EPIC and NCIR
Knowledge of appropriate policies and procedures for day-to-day assistance with child welfare cases
Understanding of community resources, partnerships and access to programs/services

Hiring Range: 29.55 - 39.90 Commensurate with Experience
Market Range: 29.55 - 50.24
