Install, repair and maintain electrical wiring, conduit, equipment and fixtures. Journeyman Electrician I will perform work underground and above ground performing cable and conduit installations. Perform electrical maintenance repairs in an Industrial setting while leading lesser skilled electricians to ensure a safe work environment.
Qualification
Must possess a TDLR Journeyman License, or TDLR Master License, or NCCER Certified Plus Industrial Electrician or completed the ZCAP Journeyman Electrician Qualification program
Must be able to read and interpret prints, drawings, schematics and plans
Thorough knowledge of electric hand, power tools and layout tools
Must have required tools
Must be able to work at heights up to 300 ft.
Must be able to meet the physical demands and pre‑employment conditions
Must have reliable transportation and be able to work 7 days a week
Position Responsibilities
Responsible for complying with all Zachry and site specific safety rules, providing oversight of co‑workers to ensure compliance
Responsible for following direction from a Multi‑Craft Electrician, General Foreman, Craft Superintendent, Site Superintendent and/or Project Manager
Responsible for complying with the Lock, Tag and Try work procedure; this standard applies to the Sweeny Refinery, associated facilities, and outlying terminals. Oversee co‑workers within your area of responsibility to ensure compliance
Responsible for inspecting all designated work areas for hazards
Participate in and complete the Zachry Craft Advancement Program (ZCAP) for Electricians per Site established guidelines
Perform detailed inspections on hand and power tools to ensure they are safe to operate and in proper working order
Safely use hand and power tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, wire strippers and drills, overseeing co‑workers to ensure compliance
Examine blueprints, sketches, diagrams, building plans and specifications to determine locations of circuits, outlets, load centers, panel boards, wires, conduit, components and other equipment
Carry, cut, bend, connect and install conduit as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014), overseeing co‑workers to ensure compliance
Pull cables and conductors through specified pathways as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014), overseeing co‑workers to ensure compliance
Modify, fabricate and install cable trays as required and as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014), overseeing co‑workers to ensure compliance
Operate testing equipment to validate connections and ensure capability of circuits using tools such as clamp meters, ohmmeters, voltmeters and harmonics testers, overseeing co‑workers to ensure compliance
Inspect and test all electrical equipment to ensure safe operation and certify it is operating as intended, overseeing co‑workers to ensure compliance
Safely install and maintain temporary power systems and their distribution system as defined in NFPA 70 (NEC 2014), with direct oversight of co‑workers to ensure compliance
Install and maintain assured equipment grounding/bonding on equipment and facilities, overseeing co‑workers to ensure compliance
Terminate wire/cable to electrical equipment such as outlets, switches, breakers, control panels, and distribution systems, overseeing co‑workers to ensure compliance
Observe all state and local building/electrical codes
Lead the Safety Task Assessment (STA) meetings
Perform other duties as required

Physical Demands and Work Environment Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting, using arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools. May be required to lift, carry and move up to 25 lbs. Occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms. Use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision. Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel‑toe boots.
Work environment: all weather conditions ranging from warm/hot to cool/cold, occasional rain. Work at different elevations. Noise levels moderate to high. Job site will contain light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools. People standing, walking, sitting, signaling and talking. Bells, whistles and alarms.
