Job Summary The Undergraduate Lab Stockroom Coordinator is essential to the successful implementation of the undergraduate large-enrollment courses (General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, c.a. > 4050 students per year). It supports student success by enabling the timely execution of the labs which contributes to a positive student experience and quality data acquisition that supports learning goals. It also plays a key role in ensuring laboratory safety. Assures proper function of laboratory equipment in the general chemistry laboratories (CHEM 1215, 1225, 2315, and 2325). Involved in preparation of supplies needed for the laboratories. Instructs undergraduate stockroom staff in general lab protocols. Performs safety training for undergraduate stockroom staff. Manages stockroom and laboratory waste and disposal. Respond to building emergencies. Be available to help with the management of other chemistry laboratories as necessary.

Responsibilities

Hire, manage, and supervise stockroom student staff.

Responsible for maintaining the organization of the undergraduate teaching laboratories and stockrooms.

Orders consumables/chemicals/solvents/glassware/etc. for these laboratories on appropriate timelines.

Work alongside faculty and staff to ensure all materials, chemical reagents, and waste containers are prepared and placed for each lab.

Responsible for oversight of the storage and transfer of chemical waste from the undergraduate laboratories to EHS.

Responsible for safety in the undergraduate laboratories.

Support students/staff/faculty during lab incidents/accidents (including near-misses) and filing incident reports with EHS.

Minimum Qualifications EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT :

1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Laboratory Technician, III :

Requires 3+ years of related experience.

Preferences Chemistry background is essential. OSHA training and certification or the willingness to complete OSHA certification. Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all personnel.
