Job Title: Video Editor Reports to: Production Manager Department: Audio & Visual

Purpose:

Advance Messenger International’s vision by transforming raw media into high-quality video content for web, broadcast, and live events that aligns with creative direction, brand guidelines, and technical standards.

Primary Outcomes

Deliver high-quality, on-time video edits that support Messenger’s ministry goals

Support continuous improvement of video content and team processes

Maintain organized post-production workflows

Duties and Responsibilities

Edit raw footage into compelling final products for digital platforms, broadcast, live events, and social media ensuring alignment with creative direction

Follow established brand guidelines, editing style guides, and storytelling standards to ensure visual and narrative consistency

Collaborate with producers, writers, and other team members to interpret project goals and execute the desired vision

Manage project media including file organization, following asset naming conventions, and adherence to post-production workflows

Upload finalized deliverables to appropriate platforms (e.g., Vimeo, cloud storage, Asana, YouTube, etc.) with correct metadata and version control

Ensure deliverables meet Messenger’s technical quality standards (resolution, color grading, sound mixing, compression settings)

Select and integrate appropriate music, sound effects, b-roll, and graphic elements to enhance storytelling

Communicate project updates, needs, and obstacles promptly through Messenger’s collaboration tools (Asana, Slack, Email)

Stay current with editing trends and suggest process or creative improvements where appropriate

Support team initiatives, including occasional filming assistance, brainstorm sessions, or related duties as assigned

Other related work, as assigned

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, or related field preferred

3+ years of professional video editing experience or equivalent portfolio demonstrating proficiency in storytelling, pacing, and brand alignment

Ministry/media experience in a nonprofit, faith-based organization is a strong plus

General Qualifications

Proficiency with DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, and/or Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition)

Strong grasp of narrative structure, emotional impact, and pacing

Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for excellence

Ability to take creative feedback with a humble, teachable spirit

Strong time-management skills; ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple priorities

Ability to work effectively independently and within a collaborative team environment

Understanding of color theory, audio mixing, and motion graphics is a plus

Work Location: Nashville, Tennessee area. Must be able to present evidence of identity and legal right to work in the United States.

Job Type/Schedule Full-time, 40-hour work week with the potential for occasional overtime. This is a non-exempt position and is subject to overtime pay in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Pay This is a mid-level position with a salary range of $22 - $28 / hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
