Description Location: Main CampusDepartment: PHARMACYSchedule: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, POSITION SUMMARY The Pharmacy Tech-IV/Irrig will provide IV and irrigation fluid delivery and stocking as well as technical support in the various aspects, functions, and responsibilities of the SGMC Health Pharmacy Department. Effectively executes all competencies on a regular basis specific to assigned area(s) and location(s). Assists in the training, orientation and assessment of new hire employees, interns, externs and students. Participates in and completes all quality improvement assignments. Plays a significant role in the department's readiness for DNV survey. EDUCATION High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Pharmacy Technician Registration by the Georgia Board of Pharmacy required. EXPERIENCE Prior health care experience, particularly in a hospital setting preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Must be physically able to lift and carry heavy fluid as a part of the regular daily job duties. The Pharmacy Tech-IV/Irrig will be required to complete a six-week training program and then be able to demonstrate efficiency in typing, preparation of aseptic solutions, preparation of medication and medication batches, and must have knowledge of inpatient and outpatient drug distribution systems (Epic, Omnicell, QS1), and be able to work mathematical calculations accurately. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide pharmacy services appropriate to the age of the patient's served. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's age specific needs and provide the care needed by our patient groups (i.e., neonate, pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric). Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities. Must have clear driving record that meets SGMC Health driver requirements. Must have the ability to drive personal or SGMC Health vehicle. WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION Demanding physical effort, for example, constant standing and/or walking with periods of concentration. Considerable mental effort and concentration is required for the following, but not limited to physician orders, prescriptions, and reports. Must be able to work in a confined, high-stress environment. Considerable and repetitious lifting and carrying items in excess of 50lbs. Ability to work closely with others is required. Possibility of irregular schedules including weekends. Possible exposure to hazardous material, and/or heavy loads. Must be able to properly use equipment for heavy lifting such as pallet-jacks, both manual and electric.
