Equipment Operator (Springdale, AR) EG271 ITG Communications, LLC is seeking an Equipment Operator for the Springdale, Arkansas location. Responsibilities Operates excavation equipment for installation of underground telecommunications cable, conduit, and fiber optic cable. Prepares construction sites for building, demolition, or excavation. Transports tools and construction equipment to and from construction sites. Avoids existing cables; digs in accordance with blueprints and designated plans. Performs all duties according to prescribed safety procedures using appropriate safety equipment. Sets up and cleans up work site including traffic and pedestrian control. Inspects and fuels vehicle prior to shift, performs routine maintenance and repairs. Reads utility locates and coordinates day lighting of facilities. Ensures all applicable permits and locates are complete and on site. Inspects work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications. Operates construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications. Ensures sites are kept clean and safe. Requirements Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent, and at least one year of experience. Vocational school training or apprenticeship preferred. On-the-job training offered. Must be available to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, feet, reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, and up to 100 lbs as needed. Ability to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains. Must work outdoors for extended periods; exposed to extreme weather conditions. Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery. Key Competencies, Skills, Abilities Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities. Ability to read building plans related to structural concrete and land grades. Excellent mechanical skills. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to work as a team. Oral communication skills.
