HDR is consistently ranked by ENR as one of the top Waste Management firms in America. HDR’s Waste program is looking for a Civil Coordinator to provide Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) and support design and construction of landfill and waste facility projects. Initial assignments will include multi‑day field‑based inspections. The right candidate will have a strong interest in how waste is generated, reduced, reused, recycled, recovered and ultimately managed through collection, transfer, processing, and disposal facilities.
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct CQA inspections of active construction sites for landfill and waste facilities, including daily inspection documentation.
Attend CQA pre‑construction and progress meetings.
Assist Senior Engineers in landfill, facility, composting, and/or remediation project design and permitting. Tasks may include site studies, site designs, and contract documentation preparation.
Perform overall site layout, grading, utility layout, and drainage.
Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
Perform administrative duties associated with project management for civil/site projects.
Work independently on small projects, or assist more‑senior engineers on larger projects.
Complete duties requiring field work and travel as needed.
Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
Non‑EIT candidates will be titled Coordinator and are expected to obtain their EIT certification within 12 months.
Ability to conduct multi‑day field assignments on active construction sites.
Proficient in MS Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D preferred.
Experience with civil or construction engineering on solid waste projects such as landfills, transfer stations, or recycling facilities preferred.
Ability to perform administrative duties associated with project management for civil/site projects.
Ability to assist multiple disciplines in the preparation of construction level design documents.
Local candidates preferred.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
