Description Job Summary: Provides indirect care in the department setting and meets communication needs of the department. Transcribes physician orders form records with notation and signatures by nursing staff. Prepares and compiles records in the department. Maintains regulatory body requirements, policies and procedures and participates in performance improvement activities.

Works as the primary Registration/Admission clerk for the Emergency Department during shift.
Is efficient in documentation of Registration of Emergency Department patients.
Interacts professionally with co-workers and other health care providers.
Fosters communication between multiple disciplines on the behalf of the patient.
Answers the telephone in a timely and polite manner.
Communicates ideas for improvement to the unit manager/charge nurse.
Is aware of patient location when out of the unit.
Communicates information to DON or Patient Care Manager or as instructed by the charge nurse.
Transports specimens to lab in a timely manner.
Informs nursing staff of any NOW or STAT orders immediately.
Maintains current copies of lab results and x-rays and places in the correct patient’s chart in the correct section.
Orders supplies and stocks as required.
Demonstrates initiative and an ability to be flexible, organized & function under stressful situations.
Maintains accuracy of electronic Administrative Data for patients to ensure complete and accurate patient care.
Maintains unit specific logs such as/not limited to Tardy/Absent records, In-service Attendance records, and Blanket Warmer Log.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas Demonstrates knowledge of computer system.
Accepts additional assignments willingly.
Requirements Professional Requirements Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
Completes annual competency requirements.
Maintains regulatory, quality and performance improvement requirements.
Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly.
Maintains Hospital and other regulatory requirements, policies and standards.
Attends at least 75% of staff meetings, reads and initials all monthly staff meeting minutes.
Ensures confidentiality of patient’s records.
Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and is available “on call”.
Reports to work as scheduled and ready to receive assignments; minimal absenteeism.
Attends continuing education in-services.
Interacts professionally with other disciplines.
Education/Regulatory Requirements & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prefer basic knowledge of medical terminology.
Prefer experience as a unit secretary.
Previous work history that demonstrates steady attendance and punctuality is required.
Language Skills Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Skills Basic computer knowledge
