Working Title: Facilities Office Assistant
Department: Housing‑Facilities‑Admin
Location: Athens Area
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm; preferred hours: Monday 8am–5pm, Wednesday 8am–5pm, Friday 9am–1pm; flexible around class schedule but not exceed 20 hours per week.
Salary: $11.75 per hour
Eligibility Requirements
Enrolled at least half‑time at the University of Georgia when classes are in session (minimum six credit hours for undergraduates and professionals; minimum five credit hours for graduate students). Summer terms and the last semester before graduation may differ.
In good standing with the Office of Student Conduct and University Housing.
May not exceed 20 hours of work per week across all student staff positions, unless granted prior permission when classes are not in session.
May not exceed 6 consecutive hours of work per shift.
Student employees are considered temporary employees. Employees may be separated at any time.
Duties / Responsibilities
Develop an extensive knowledge of maintenance related tasks and delegate these tasks to the appropriate staff member in a timely manner.
Have a solid understanding of the housing campus layout and property numbers.
Assist with administrative duties and create training material for Residential Program Services facilities staff.
Escort contractors and outside vendors to specific work areas; assist work control manager and assistant with key control for contractors and vendors needing access.
Create work orders in AIM.
Clean, wash and maintain UGA vehicles and LSV’s.
Other duties as needed.
Qualifications & Competencies
Effective communication via online work tickets, direct communication, email, two‑way radio, and telephone.
Office skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), database management, and general office skills.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety.
Physical Demands
Consistent with a typical office environment. Driving required. Position has direct interaction or care of employees under the age of 18 and has security access.
Background Investigation
Offer of employment contingent upon completion of a background investigation including criminal background check, verification of credentials and employment history, and (if applicable) a credit check. May be subject to a pre‑employment drug test for high‑risk responsibilities.
