Senior Staff Engineer - Bridge Department

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for our Bridge Department in Boston, MA. The position offers a competitive base pay range of $80,000–$105,000 per year, with compensation reflecting skills and experience.
Responsibilities
Lead and support the design and analysis of bridge structures, from conceptual to detailed design and load‑rating analysis using industry‑standard software and methods.
Assist in the management of bridge design projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and compliance with client specifications, codes, and regulations.
Provide technical guidance and recommendations to junior engineers and support the development of innovative design solutions that meet project objectives.
Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure design meets their needs and provide technical support throughout project phases.
Review design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications for accuracy and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams—including structural, civil, and environmental engineers—to deliver integrated solutions for bridge projects.
Stay current on industry trends, new technologies, and evolving regulations to ensure designs are innovative and compliant with the latest standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree in Structural or Bridge Engineering is a plus.
2–4 years of experience in bridge design and engineering, with a focus on transportation infrastructure projects.
Proficiency in bridge design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, LARSA, or similar) and a strong understanding of AASHTO, local, and international design codes and standards.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with demonstrated capability to address complex engineering challenges.
Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
