FRACTIONAL CFO
ABOUT OUR CLIENT:
Our client is a leading food events and hospitality company based in San Francisco, known for creating large-scale community dining experiences and culinary partnerships.
The client is seeking a Fractional CFO to provide senior-level financial leadership, stabilization, and strategic guidance.
Month 1: ~10–15 hours per week (front-loaded for assessment, stabilization, and priority initiatives).
Ongoing: ~5–8 hours per week (steady-state oversight and advisory support).
This role is designed to elevate financial leadership, ensure strong accounting and reporting foundations, and support management decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES Initial Engagement (First 30–45 Days | 10–15 hrs/week)
Assess the current state of accounting operations, month-end close, reporting cadence, and controls, identifying risks, gaps, and near-term priorities.
Review and optimize the month-end close process, focusing on close calendar discipline, workflow efficiency, and effective use of NetSuite.
Partner closely with the accounting team to stabilize processes, clarify roles and responsibilities, and improve documentation.
Evaluate cash flow, short-term forecasting, and liquidity needs across event-based and catering business units.
Provide senior-level guidance to leadership on financial visibility, risks, and immediate improvement opportunities.
Ongoing Advisory Support (5–8 hrs/week)
Serve as a senior financial thought partner to executive leadership, translating financial results into actionable insights.
Oversee preparation and review of monthly financial statements and management reporting, ensuring accuracy and GAAP compliance.
Maintain high-level oversight of cash flow, forecasting, and working capital.
Advise on internal controls, vendor management, and accounting policies, ensuring scalability as the business grows.
Support cross-functional alignment between finance, operations, events, and culinary leadership.
Act as a steady, experienced presence during organizational transition—without operating as a day-to-day full time Controller.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
10–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership at the Controller or CFO level.
Extensive NetSuite experience is required , including hands‑on use, optimization, reporting, and the ability to drive improved utilization of system capabilities.
Demonstrated success leading and accelerating monthly close processes, improving workflow efficiency, and strengthening financial controls.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and operational accounting best practices.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
