R&D Technician - Food Science & Product Development
Our client, a leader in the food industry, is seeking an
R&D Technician
to support product innovation from concept to commercialization. This entry‑level, hands‑on role offers the opportunity to work in lab and pilot plant settings, contributing to the development and testing of new formulations, processes, and ingredients.
What You'll Do
Develop, test, and evaluate new product formulations and process improvements in lab and pilot plant environments
Prepare samples for internal testing, customer evaluation, sensory panels, and shelf‑life studies
Operate, maintain, and clean laboratory equipment and pilot plant machinery following SOPs and safety protocols
Collect, record, and analyze experimental data; prepare detailed reports and technical documentation
Maintain R&D lab organization, inventory management, and supplies ordering
Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Production, and Operations teams to support scale‑up trials and production runs
Troubleshoot product testing issues and provide feedback to R&D scientists and engineers
Stay current on food industry trends, ingredient innovations, and emerging processing technologies
Support commercialization activities and new product launches
What You Need
Associate or Bachelor's degree
in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Prior experience in a
laboratory ,
pilot plant , or
food manufacturing
environment preferred
Strong
attention to detail
and ability to follow precise protocols and standard operating procedures
Knowledge of
food safety ,
GMP
(Good Manufacturing Practices), and
laboratory best practices
Proficiency in
Microsoft Office
(Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn data collection software
Excellent
organizational skills ,
time management , and
communication abilities
Strong
teamwork
and
cross‑functional collaboration
skills
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and work in varying temperatures
Flexibility for occasional extended hours during production trials
