Job Summary Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to manage, maintain, and secure critical government IT infrastructure and systems. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networks, and cloud environments while ensuring system availability, performance, and security. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of network infrastructure, security best practices, system administration, and cloud computing technologies.
Specific Responsibilities
Administer and maintain server and client operating systems in enterprise environments
Configure and manage network infrastructure including LAN/WAN architecture, routers, switches, and pathways
Implement and maintain network protocols including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and directory services
Monitor and optimize bandwidth management and network traffic flow using TCP/IP and OSI model principles
Utilize performance tuning tools and techniques to ensure optimal system and network performance
Configure and manage remote access technologies and VPN security
Use common network tools including ping, traceroute, and nslookup for troubleshooting and diagnostics
Manage file system implementations including NTFS, FAT, and EXT
Implement and manage virtualization technologies and virtual machine environments
Apply IT security principles and methods including firewalls, DMZs, and encryption
Implement network security architecture using defense-in-depth strategies
Apply cybersecurity principles to protect systems against threats and vulnerabilities
Ensure compliance with national and international cybersecurity laws, regulations, and policies
Enforce organizational IT user security policies including account management and access control
Protect sensitive data in accordance with data security standards (PII, PCI, PHI)
Perform system administration, network, and operating system hardening
Deploy and manage software-based computer protection tools including firewalls, antivirus, and antispyware
Maintain knowledge of transmission records (Bluetooth, RFID, IR, Wi-Fi) and jamming techniques
Utilize system/server diagnostic tools for fault identification and resolution
Execute operating system command line operations (ipconfig, netstat, dir, nbtstat)
Perform system maintenance procedures including cleaning, disk checks, reboots, and backups
Manage cloud computing environments across SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS service models
Implement cloud computing deployment models including private, public, and hybrid configurations
Apply cloud security strategy and architecture best practices
Migrate workloads between cloud service models as required
Requirements Required Qualifications
Four (4) years of system management experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required
DOD 8570 IAT II certifications required (Security+ or equivalent)
Expert knowledge of computer networking concepts, protocols, and security methodologie
Strong understanding of LAN/WAN architecture and pathways
Proficiency with bandwidth management principles and techniques
Expert knowledge of network traffic flow including TCP/IP and OSI model
Experience with performance tuning tools and techniques
Proficiency with remote access technologies and VPN security
Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, directory services)

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Typical office environment with standard computer workstation setup
May require extended periods of sitting and computer use
Ability to work in secure facilities and handle classified information
May require work in data center environments with occasional lifting of equipment up to 50 lbs
May require working in server rooms with variable temperatures
Travel
Travel may be required up to 10-15% depending on contract requirements and customer location
