Schedule: 6:00 PM – 8:00 AM, Monday–Friday

As a Heavy Equipment Operator you will safely operate a variety of heavy equipment to spread, compact, and load municipal solid waste (MSW) or recyclable materials. You will perform site preparation, landscaping, snow removal, and related assignments, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
Operate all heavy equipment, including bulldozers, graders, excavators, backhoes, front‑end loaders, wheel loaders, and off‑road dump trucks.
Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and complete required documentation.
Perform routine maintenance (lubricating, fueling, cleaning).
Operate equipment for general site preparation, landscaping, snow removal, and related assignments.
Monitor equipment operation and maintain awareness of surroundings.
Interact with internal and external customers.
Clean waste from equipment body, cab, and wheels throughout the day.
Perform on‑site roll‑off work to switch trash compactors as needed.
Operate the yard tractor to move and stage trailers as required.
Safely manage hazardous waste materials in Boyd County, following training and safety guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum three years operating heavy equipment such as an excavator, backhoe, dozer, or off‑road truck.
Pass a written and operational test to certify operation of each piece of heavy equipment.
Successfully complete hazardous waste management training within six months of employment (Boyd County).
Dependable, self‑starter with strong communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs frequently; 20 lbs occasionally; 100 lbs rarely.
Pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs continuously; 20 lbs frequently; 100 lbs rarely.
Work outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions.
Work in areas with dust, odors, mist, gases, and airborne matter.
Stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling occasionally.
Climbing and/or balancing frequently.
Sitting continuously; rarely standing/walking.
Additional Working Conditions
Exposure to high traffic and tight driving areas.
Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
Travel between offices as required.
Flexible hours; work nights, weekends, overtime, holidays as needed.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
Pre‑employment testing required.
Read and speak English.
Occasional work around or moving hazardous waste containers (Boyd County).
