Your Role on the Team Under close supervision of the Clinical Lab Manager, the Laboratory Phlebotomist will oversee daily operations in the laboratory, including drawing blood, maintaining phlebotomy stations, retrieving orders, and distributing and filing test results. The Phlebotomist will also train staff as needed and ensure compliance with all phlebotomy and operational procedures. What It Takes to be Successful General knowledge of HIPAA Interpersonal skills that recognize the voice of the customer Demonstrates quality of work & detail-oriented Can work in collaboration with internal and external customers Works in a productive manner Excellent communication skills Familiarity with laboratory information systems PC skills, MS Office Ability to make decisions based on SOPs and exercise consistent, independent judgment Adheres to grooming, dress, and lab coat policies Follows attendance guidelines Proper telephone etiquette Answers the phone in a friendly, helpful manner including UCI SHC name and self-identification Remains polite and courteous at all times Current California State Phlebotomist License Valid BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification Minimum of one year experience in phlebotomy across a range of patients (pediatrics to elderly) Special Conditions Position schedule is Monday–Friday during traditional hours; weekend or non-traditional hours may be required for special projects or busy periods. Employment contingent upon successful DOJ Live Scan background check, verification, and ongoing monitoring or licensure as applicable. Must comply with OSHA, CA/OSHA, CDC, CDPH, and UC COVID-19 vaccination policies (including hepatitis B immunization, annual flu vaccination, tuberculosis screening). Must report any potential conflicts of interest to supervisor in a timely manner. Total Rewards The expected pay range for this position is $27.17–$30.03 per hour.
