Summary Minimum Starting Salary is $21.3408 hourly, depending on qualifications. Position Overview The City of Waco seeks a dependable individual to operate sanitation trucks and ensure the safe and efficient collection and transport of materials to the City landfill, transfer station, and recycling center. Minimum Qualifications Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License required within 90 days of employment. Applicant must hold a written permit at the time of application. 6 months of heavy equipment operations and/or commercial vehicle experience. Preferred Qualifications H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent. Essential Functions Collect solid waste, refuse, bulky items, and recyclable materials and transport them to the City landfill, transfer station, and recycling center; operate a variety of vehicles and equipment at the City landfill and transfer station in accordance with all safety regulations; perform manual labor tasks as needed; maintain daily work logs and records; provide customer service as needed; perform duties within scope of authority and training and in compliance with City policies; duties may vary according to job assignment. Operate specialized heavy equipment to move, grade, and cover landfill and transfer station materials; monitor work environment for safety and continually screen all materials at the landfill in order to identify hazardous and prohibited waste; utilize proper safety precautions in all work performed; inspect and maintain vehicles and equipment according to City standards. Support the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, and City staff; maintain confidentiality of work‑related issues and City information. May be required to respond after hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City‑wide emergency. #J-18808-Ljbffr
