Position Summary
Software Engineer (AI/ML) – Requisition #26420 – Mission Technologies, a division of HII. Full‑time, salaried, exempt. Salary range $111,494 – $130,000. Security clearance: Secret. Level of experience: Mid. Location: Odenton, MD (hybrid work model). Travel required 0–10%.
Job Description This role supports a security organization focused on protecting critical assets through enterprise risk management and innovation. The successful candidate will provide strategic into the DoD customer’s analytics roadmap, applying statistical and machine learning methods to solve large‑scale problems across the full modeling lifecycle.
Essential Responsibilities
Gain familiarity with data and processes: image review, data analysis, and data set curation.
Investigate suitable machine learning technologies and open‑source resources for data‑sparse contexts.
Conduct data exploration, analysis, and feature extraction to support data pipelines.
Provide strategic insight into the analytics roadmap in collaboration with product owners and engineering teams.
Apply statistical and machine learning methods to solve large‑scale problems, including model building, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and recalibration.
Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and create data visualizations for internal stakeholders.
Present modeling insights to senior stakeholders across the agency.
Propose solutions and strategies to unique business challenges.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field; or 3 years with a Master’s; or equivalent experience.
Industry experience with statistical software (Python, R) and database languages (SQL).
Experience with data analytics and visualization tools.
Demonstrated skill in applying AI/ML to build models using Python, Spark, Databricks, and other libraries.
Experience working with different types of datasets and building end‑to‑end data pipelines: data cleaning, evaluation, feature engineering, model exploration, and maintenance.
CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or SSCP is required (IATT Lvl 2 Compliance).
Must possess and maintain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in data analytics, engineering, science, or related discipline.
Knowledge of DoD business practices.
Working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence.
Machine learning expertise: ANN, GANs, Bayesian networks, regression, decision trees, elastic‑net generalized linear models, k‑NN, SVM, clustering, PCA, MCA, MFC, aPriori, and other data mining and deep learning algorithms.
Familiarity with Java or C++.
Physical Requirements
