Overview
VTG is seeking an
Associate DevOps Engineer
to support our Navy customer. This DevOps role will be involved in the installation, integration, and testing of prototype Navy tactical software and supporting Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery of mature software. The DevOps Engineer will work with a small team based out of Manassas, VA, but will also be responsible for collaborating with a larger community of organizations and government representatives from across the country. The individual will work with limited supervision to develop and implement cybersecurity and data management solutions for inclusion in future tactical systems. This role requires an imaginative thinker and problem solver with demonstrated interest in all aspects of DevOps infrastructure. This position is located in Manassas, VA and is a hybrid role with remote work options and flexible schedules.
What will you do?
Conceive, develop, and evaluate novel engineering solutions to address the unique requirements of the maritime environment
Prototype data architecture and/or cyber security tools and solutions
Evaluate commercial and open-source products for use in CI/CD pipelines and in a PaaS
Integrate 3rd party applications
Participate in cross-domain working groups to coordinate prototyping efforts and brief results to senior engineers
Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, PaaS, and PaaS Services
Assist in maintaining server bays in both unclassified and Secret lab environments
Integrate and and/or containerize 3rd party applications
Provide and update technical documentation for all work performed.
Do you have what it takes?
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology
Proficient using Linux (RHEL 7, 8, or 9)
Proficient with Virtual Machines and related tools such as Proxmox
Proficient with physical server and switch management
Knowledgeable with modern PaaS environment tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, KVM, and Helm
Experience with shell scripting languages
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Initiative, innovation, and resourcefulness.
US Citizen with current SECRET Clearance or ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
Successful completion of background check
Desired Qualifications/Skills/Abilities
Prior experience in the SWFTS environment or with other US Navy tactical/weapon systems is desirable.
Additional cybersecurity certs or experience
Experience with Automated Testing
Experience developing software with C++ or Java
Extensive experience as a Linux administrator
Experience with secure computing technologies; SELinux, PKI, zero-trust networks, etc.
